Best Places To Stay
For Highway 140 Camping
Fourmile Lake – Sky Lakes Wilderness
The Highway 140 camping season for Fourmile Lake begins as soon as the snow melts from the gravel road to Fourmile Lake. The 6-mile road is also the road to take to get to the Mt. McLoughlin Trailhead. The campground has 28 sites and is at the base of Mt. McLoughlin.
The lake is very clear (and very cold) and you can see the bottom in many places. We’ve canoed on this lake and one of my favorite things to do is to paddle to the middle and lean back and enjoy the spectacular view.
This is a great spot for hiking as several trails lead from the campsite. Bird watching is also a favorite activity of many of the campers. Breath-taking views are boundless at this campsite and a must-see for every camper.

Aspen Point – Lake of the Woods
Another Highway 140 camping location is a short distance before the turnoff to Fourmile Lake is the road to Lake of the Woods. Turn south and go a little over a half a mile to the Aspen Point campsite. This site has no hookups but there is additional camping with full and partial hookups for RVs at
Lake of the Woods resort.
Lake of the Woods is one of the clearest natural lakes in the Oregon Cascades. It is a great destination for boating, waterskiing, fishing, fly fishing, canoeing, sailing, and even scuba diving. This is a scenic place to enjoy the spectacular views and to also have a great time!
